DevFest 2024 Ranchi: Leading, Learning, and Inspiring
Hey there! If you read my last post (From TPL to DevFest: How GSoC Launched My Dev Life), you know how Google Summer of Code (GSoC) set my path ablaze. DevFest 2024, hosted at Jharkhand University of Technology in Ranchi, Jharkhand, was the next big chapter—a thrilling deep dive into AI and community that fueled my drive to lead and share. Let’s unpack the magic of that day.
AI in the Spotlight
DevFest 2024, masterfully orchestrated by GDG Ranchi, was a celebration of artificial intelligence—its power to transform industries, the shift to an AI-driven era, and the need to use it wisely. Sessions covered AI’s role in everything from healthcare to education, blending excitement with real talk about its challenges. As someone steering complex software projects, I was hooked, but one talk stood out: Vijaykumar from Google showcasing the jaw-dropping potential of generative AI with Google Cloud Gen AI. His demo—spinning up creative solutions in seconds—sparked ideas for how I could weave AI into my own work, like enhancing Flareon. It was a reminder of why I love this field: there’s always a new frontier.
Connections That Elevate
DevFest wasn’t just about tech—it was about people who push you to think bigger. I connected with the Zuraverse team, Web 3 gaming experts, who clarified my questions about decentralized tech. Their insights into Web 3’s role in gaming and beyond got me thinking about new angles for my projects, and I’m already exploring how to blend those ideas into my toolkit.
Then there was Anurag Sinha, a research professor pouring his heart into groundbreaking work with nearly 150 papers published! He shared how research turns curiosity into impact, offering a perspective that sharpened my approach to problem-solving. His grind was a masterclass in persistence—something I’m passing on to the young devs I mentor.
I also met Samrat Kumar Pethe, whose NGO, Eco Serve Development Foundation (formerly ServeCouncil), achieved something incredible: planting over 10,000 trees in 2024 alone. This was a powerful nudge to think beyond code—how can we build a better world? These conversations weren’t just chats; they were fuel for my mission to lead and inspire.
Tushar Raj and GDG Ranchi: The Force Behind It All
Let’s give a massive shoutout to Tushar Raj, the dynamo running GDG Ranchi, and the GDGSOC crew. Tushar’s vision and relentless hustle turned DevFest 2024 into a flawless, electric experience. From late-night planning to curating top-tier speakers, he and his team delivered an event that felt like a global tech fest right here in Ranchi. As a leader myself, I know the grind behind that kind of execution, and Tushar nailed it. Want to relive the vibe? The DevFest 2024 Aftermovie captures it perfectly—check it out. If you missed it, this is your invite to join the 2025 session!
Why DevFest Hit Home
DevFest 2024 was more than an event—it was a spark. It showed me AI’s cutting edge, opened doors to Web 3 and research, and reminded me that tech can plant 10,000 trees or inspire a kid to code. As a Lead Software Engineer, I’m driven to build tools like Flareon and share my journey to light a fire in the next generation. Meeting Vijaykumar, Zuraverse, Anurag, Tushar, and the GDG crew was a recharge, pushing me to keep moving forward and pushing myself to create new boundaries.
